Exit Glacier Guides in Travel Channel's "Trip Flip"

Check it out! The Trip Flip episode where we took the Travel Channel folks ice climbing on Godwin Glacier just aired last night. The episode is called "Surviving Alaska." There's some video and photos on the travel channel's website from the episode. Thanks to Kim Barnard from the Sugar Mountain crew for letting us know it aired!

Training 2013

So the season is upon us and all of the guides are here and ready to work. We've got a great crew this year, and we've been spending the last week going over safety routines, technical skills, animal behaviors, and much, much more. We've also spent some time in the snow at the glacier, getting wet and sliding around. Good times.

First trip today!

Today is the first ice hiking trip of the 2012 season and the first trip ever out of our new shop! It feels great to be working out of the new space, there's a lot more room to outfit the trips, and all of the setup work that goes into our daily trips seems to be much smoother. Trevor, Keith, and our new guide Matt are out with the group today, and everyone was already having fun even before they walked out of the door. So — in summary - first trip!

Thanks for coming!

Thanks to everyone who came out to support us during our open house last night. There was a great turnout for the now shop's opening and to look at Julian's art. We really appreciate everybody's support, and we hope that all of you had a great time.

We've finished framing in the new shop!

After a couple of long days, we've finished faming our new shop. We also learned how to do some serious replumbing of water mains (way to go Fisher, booyah!) and started wiring the shop's electrical outlets.

Many thanks to Alan for the use of his framing nailgun and compressor. Without those, this project would have been daunting — at best - but with them, framing the basement was breezy.
